What Would You Do with an Extra $30?

MP900385339One Duplex House, Two Customers, One Saved $0.15 per Gallon for the Same #2 Heating Oil.

This week while I was delivering oil to my customer who lives in one apartment in a duplex house, a different oil company was delivering oil to the other resident’s tank at the same time. We both finished filling the tanks and left the delivery slips at the door for our customers. I couldn’t help but to notice that the resident who was not my customer was actually charged 15¢ per gallon more than what I charged my customer!

If each customer purchased 200 gallons of oil, my customer paid $30 less than the other resident. Over a winter, that can add up to significant money!

Forecast: Oil Lower Natural Gas Higher

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is forecasting the price of fuel oil will be less this winter than last, and the price of natural gas will be more.  http://www.eia.gov/

One reason we might see lower prices is the growing production of crude oil which is at its highest level in more than 20 years.  Whereas the EIA is predicting the price of natural gas is expected to increase more than 15% this winter seeing that the Marcellus drilling project can’t continue to sustain at current levels. http://marcellusdrilling.com/

Remember, heating oil packs 40% more BTU’s per gallon than natural gas.
